The surgeon is a board certified ophthalmologist who has performed thousands of refractive procedures over the course of his career as a surgeon. His prior accomplishments include being part of the earliest FDA trials on PRK in 1988. He was the first surgeon in Ohio to perform LASIK and second in the USA. He participated in the development of a silicone inside the eye contact lenses. Prior to completing his internship at Duke University Eye Center, he studied medicine at Cornell Medical College where he received his MD.
